The JAM Pedals Delay Llama Xtreme is a Bucket Brigade (BBD) delay type effect pedal. It offers you the best of BBD analog delays and is positioned as a real sound machine.
Externally it is a JAM Pedals, it has a hand painted finish. Each pedal will therefore be slightly different from one copy to another. The controls are simple and intuitive: a T button for the delay time, an R button to adjust the feedback and the number of repetitions, an L button for the Level. There are 3 toggle switches. One allows you to activate the Trail mode, the other to activate the Killdry function and the last to adjust the rhythmic subdivisions of the Tap Tempo. You can also connect an expression pedal to control the delay time, the presets and the tap tempo remotely.
Inside, we have a quality PCB which only confirms the great care that our Greek friends bring to the manufacture of these pretty, colorful pedals. There are also three MN3205 BBD type chips which allow a maximum delay of 800ms. Imagine an original DM-2 on steroids!

Connected to a clean channel, the Delay Llama Xtreme does not - copy - anything, it has its own personality. We find all the prerogative of the best delays of the genre. The effect is unpredictable, tortuous, complex, it degrades and destructures little by little with pitch variations and a very musical sound signature. It will be ideal to give a slight modulated color while spacializing your sound. We really liked the complexity of the “tail” of the effect and the way the delay evaporates over time. This very pretty slightly detuned grain that twists in all directions makes it truly unique.

Note, the machine comes with 4 XTREME presets (+4 savable):
- Vibrato: LFO modulation with a sine wave + depth and speed settings.
Tape-Age: Emulates random pitch variations and recreates the tape wear of a Tape-Echo. You have control over the frequency and variations.
Random: Randomly changes the value of repeats based on the Time parameter or tap tempo. This generates abrupt changes in pitch and rhythm.
Pitch-Shift: This mode gives you 5 distinct pitch intervals.

Basically, the JAM Pedals Delay Llama Xtreme is a great delay. If you put a priority on the sound color and you do not need advanced functions or integrated MIDI protocol, it will be an excellent alternative to Carbon Copy and other El Capistan.
An excellent tape-echo like delay for all aficionados of the genre!
