Introducing the Medusa Head, also known as 'Euphorbia flanaganii', a beautiful member of the EuphorbiaGo to Euphorbia genus!

In ancient Greek mythology, Medusa became a Gorgon, a female monster with snakes for hair and a gaze that could turn people into stone.  The plant's unique appearance, with its twisting, snake-like stems, and tufts of green leaves at the top, is said to resemble the head of Medusa, who was known for her hair made of snakes.

Its snake-like branches can spread up to 16 inches in diameter, giving this stunning medusa head succulent an almost pan-like shape.

When it comes to flowers, clusters of yellow cyathium appear in the center of the plant at the tip of the stem in the summer; it's like having a tiny sun in your own home. This is definitely its most beautiful feature.

Just wait until late winter or early spring, when tiny, brilliant yellow flowers cover this Euphorbia from head to toe.

With time, new pups will appear at the tips of its tendrils and form their own caudices - it's a never-ending cycle of bizarre beauty! This weird and wild succulent will continue to amaze as it grows into an even larger Medusa-like creation.

This medusa head is exceptionally easy to propagate by divisions and cuttings so you can quickly grow your collection with just a few simple steps.

When and How to Water Your Medusa Plant

The Medusa head Euphorbia is a succulent that definitely stands out from the crowd! Unlike its desert-dwelling counterparts, this little guy doesn't do well with extended periods of drought. If you're lucky enough to be the proud owner of one of these unique plants, make sure to water it weekly during those hot summer months.

During the growing season, typically spring and summer, water thoroughly when the top inch of soil is dry. In winter, reduce watering to prevent root rot.

When the soil is dry several inches below the surface, don't hesitate to give it a good soak. And get this - when your Medusa Head is feeling parched and in need of some hydration, it'll actually start curling its arms towards the center as if to say, "I'm thirsty!" So cute and clever!

Just make sure not to overdo it and let them sit in standing water, or else they could develop root rot.

Light Requirements - Where to Place Your Euphorbia flanaganii

When growing indoors, it thrives in bright, indirect light for at least 4-6 hours daily. Place it near a window where it can receive plenty of sunlight without being directly exposed to harsh rays.

Without enough light, photosynthesis rates drop, branches become thin, colors appear dull, there is an unhealthy look to the plant, and growth is stunted.

For outdoor cultivation, the medusa head prefers full sun to partial shade. To ensure that your succulent thrives, provide 6-8 hours of bright light for healthy growth.

Remember, learn to adjust your Medusa euphorbia to avoid burns if the location where you have the plant is exposed to direct sunlight.

Optimal Soil & Fertilizer Needs

The Euphorbia head medusa prefers very airy, porous, nutrient-rich soil with a pH of 5.5 - 6.7. Succulents require fast-draining soil that dries completely between waterings. Your soil must have a sandy texture and a low water-holding capacity, just like desert soil.  Ideally, you want to use our specialized succulent potting mix that contains organic mycorrhizae to promote the development of a strong root system that helps your Euphorbia succulent to thrive.

When it comes to fertilizing your medusas head plant, it only needs a small amount of fertilizer applied once a year in spring. Succulent prefers a fertilizer with lower doses of NPK, with a maximum ratio of 5-10-5 that is higher in phosphorus than nitrogen.

Hardiness Zones & More

When growing indoors, the Medusa head enjoys hot temperatures. They prefer constant temperatures above 65-70 degrees Fahrenheit and can tolerate triple digits in the summer, so don't worry if your succulent gets too hot.

It prefers moderate humidity, so misting the plant occasionally or placing a humidifier nearby can help maintain its health and appearance. Avoid placing the plant near drafty windows or heating vents, as extreme temperature fluctuations can stress the plant.

For outdoor cultivation, the medusa head grows best in USDA zones 9 - 11. It cannot handle frost, cold, or freezing temperatures, so make sure it doesn't get below 30 degrees F in its environment.

Final Thoughts

Overall, the Medusa Head Plant (Euphorbia flanaganii) is a unique succulent with thick, cylindrical stems that resemble the snakes on Medusa's head. This plant thrives in bright, indirect light and requires well-draining soil to prevent root rot. Additionally, it is important to avoid overwatering and allow the soil to dry out between waterings to keep this striking plant healthy and happy. Be sure to add Euphorbia flanaganii to your collection today and elevate the beauty of your home or garden with this stunning-looking plant.

Perfect Jumbo Size with Hotel-Quality Comfort & Support
Color: White, Size: Queen(Pack of 2)
I recently purchased the Jumbo size pillows. After trying a week, I couldn’t be happier with them! The size is perfect—nice and full without feeling bulky. They provide just the right amount of medium support, keeping my head and neck comfortable whether I’m sleeping on my back or side. The 100% cotton cover feels soft and breathable, and the pillows stay cool throughout the night. I also love the gusseted design—it really helps the pillows maintain their shape and gives them that luxury hotel feel. Even after several nights of use, they haven’t gone flat. Another big plus is that they’re machine washable, which makes maintenance super easy. Overall, these Jumbo pillows are plush, supportive, and great quality for the price. Highly recommend!

Amazingly Comfortable — Like Sleeping in a Luxury Hotel Every Night
Color: White, Size: Queen(Pack of 2)
I rarely write reviews, but these Serta Hotel Collection pillows absolutely deserve one. From the very first night, they felt incredibly comfortable — soft yet supportive in all the right places. I tend to switch between back and side sleeping, and these pillows adjusted perfectly no matter my position. The 400-thread count cotton cover feels smooth and luxurious, and the gusseted edges give just the right amount of lift without feeling stiff. What really surprised me was how easy it was to adjust to them. Usually, it takes a few nights to get used to a new pillow, but I slept soundly from day one — no neck aches, no tossing and turning. They have that “hotel bed” feel — plush, breathable, and restful. Every morning, I wake up feeling like I stayed at a high-end resort. For the quality, comfort, and price, this set is an absolute win. Highly recommend to anyone looking to upgrade their sleep!

Amazing pillows!
Color: White, Size: Queen(Pack of 2)
These are fantastic pillows! A little background. I'm a side sleeper and toss and turn throughout the night. I've struggled with sleep issues for literally decades - insomnia, tossing and turning, waking up multiple times a night to use the bathroom, waking up way too early and not being able to get back to sleep. Every night it's a combo of those things or all of those things. I've also had some neck pain and stiffness for a couple of months. If you've ever dealt with that you know it will affect sleep which will then affect productivity and mood. It's a terrible spiraling and compounding thing to deal with, very stressful. I figured the contour pillow I had which once was actually helping was unfortunately the culprit. So I went on the hunt for another pillow. I ordered what I thought was the old Rejuvenite pillow (those were fabulous!) and got burned on a bait and switch. The pillow ended up being way too soft and gave me worse neck pain. Figuring I'd try to salvage what was a $115 pillow, I invested in a very thin pillow to put underneath. It was too high. Getting pretty frustrated, I ordered the cheaper Utopia pillows here on Amazon. Those actually were not terrible because they did take away my neck pain, but I was still tossing and turning at night and still feeling unrested in the morning. I decided I'd give it one last shot and luckily found these when they were discounted by a few bucks. They didn't have many reviews which was actually a great sign for me because it means the company lets their product speak for itself. I got these in several days and was thrilled to see upon opening the package that they were sealed and the directions do not require you to open the package and let them expand for 24 hours. You literally just take the edges and fluff 2-3 times and that's it! They are ready to go and they definitely do feel perfect after doing that. I was skeptical when I put them on my bed because they are soft and I worried they'd be too soft. I felt my head sink into the pillow a bit and then was surprised to feel at a certain point it just feels like the pillow is cradling your head with the right amount of support. I wouldn't describe it as firm, just soft but stable support. Really comfortable. But the real test was how it would perform during sleep. I'm so thrilled to report that I had an amazing night of sleep! No neck pain, no stiffness, zero tossing and turning, no insomnia, no waking up during the middle of the night, and no waking up early. I put my head down, fell asleep, and slept like a log for about 7.5 hours straight, which is literally unheard of in my world. I'm very lucky if I get 5 solid hours of sleep. I woke up and popped out of bed. My mood was great (still is later in the day) and I was not tired in the afternoon when I normally feel the fatigue kicking in. This is the first day for as long as I can remember that I do not feel that nagging tiredness behind my eyes and in my body that always seems to be a steady background actor in my life. I feel great and full of energy and I was able to tackle a bunch of tasks on my someday list. This is so promising I didn't want to wait to share. If you are on the fence and are dealing with similar issues to mine, I'd encourage you to just try these. What's also amazing is these come in a set. I'm only using one so I basically have another one to use if the first one ever fails. This is the best investment for sleep I've ever made! Update: Well, after a trial period I'm removing a star because my dreamy sleep was short lived. I started to wake up more frequently during the night with these and gave up midway through the night one night. I'm still using these for back support while I sit up or hang out in bed because they are still super comfortable that way and oddly these work well for naps. Hopefully, you have better luck than me!
