Chilopsis linearis, also known as desert willow, is a small tree or large shrub that can grow anywhere from 15 to 40 feet at maturity. The flower is popularly known for its striking resemblance to that of a willow tree, but is actually a member of the Catalpa family, Bignoniaceae, rather than the Salicaceae family. It is centrally found in Baja as well as southern California, south Texas and even Mexico. C. linearis is a deciduous shrub or small tree with elongated leaves that resembles a willow tree. It produces trumpet-like flowers that can range in colors of light pink, white, and light purple. The plant prefers dry to medium moisture levels with neutral alkaline pH. This species prefers full sun, so plant in very sunny locations, and be sure your planting site is well-draining. This plant thrives in desert/hot-dry regions. Water regularly during establishment and then occasionally during the summer months. Do not oversaturate. Plants can tolerate temperatures as low as 10°F (-12°C) and as high as 120°F (49°C). This species typically flowers from May through June. C. linearis is typically grown as an ornamental for its beautiful flowers attracting bees and hummingbirds for its nectar. It can develop a deep root system helping erosion control in arid and dry regions. The flower, bark, and leaves can be medical in hot poultices and tea used to treat coughing, fungal infections such as athlete's foot. Tea from the flower produces a natural anti-oxidant which promotes cardiovascular health and regulates glucose metabolism.

Sow the Chilopsis linearis seeds no deeper than ¼ inch (0.6 cm) deep as the seeds require light to germinate. Plant the seeds in a moist, but not soaking wet potting/germination medium. Seeds typically take 1 to 3 weeks to germinate. Even with optimal germination conditions, germination may be slow and sporadic.

Great stabilizer
Style: Levelers, Size: 20 Pack, Style: Levelers, Size: 20 Pack
Very light, seem very sturdy and lock together snuggly. Instead of carrying heavy wood to support, now I can use the light weight levelers. Tested multiple times to make sure they could hold, so far no issues going up and down.

Great budget multi tool
Style: Corded
Nice little rig that fits the bill for occasional hobby use. The motor is powerful enough to polish and cut without bogging down. Bits attach securely and easily. Light and easy to use. The price is great for this multi tool. Recommended

Favorite DIY Sidekick
Style: Corded
Bought this for one task: grind away an interfering piece of metal in my door’s strike plate. I was unhappy about spending $20 on another DIY tool for one tiny specific purpose but to my pleasant surprise, I haven’t stopped using this dremel since. I’ve cut and sanded wood projects, trimmed custom cabinet panels, smoothed jagged hole edges, and more. I hardly ever turn the dial past 4 to find a speed I’m comfortable with. It’s very powerful and gives great results. I bought a cheaper one that busted on the first try and I’m so happy this was my next choice. It’s handled all the fixer-upper challenges I’ve asked of it. The starter kit is a little sparse on the good stuff like saw blades and washers but very helpful. The case is convenient. My only gripe is I have to be intentional about placement to get it to close but the cord and extension tool is so long and useful that it makes up for it. It’s a little bulky but comfortable to hold and I’ve been able to reach all the narrow corners and tight spaces I’ve needed. My next project is to cut away some protruding screw threads and my immediate thought was to reach for the WEN rotary. For the amount of value I’ve gotten out of it, this thing has paid for itself a few times already.
